mallards on the bay

Happy New Year from Belleville, Ontario, Canada! Our temperature today peaked at about 8 degrees F, or -13 C, so was a somewhat chilly expedition to find a photo.

I am very interested in photography, and got a new camera for Christmas. As I knew so little about the terminology in the manual, I immediately headed to the internet for help and came across this wonderful website.

My picture was taken on the Bay of Quinte, a large bay off of Lake Ontario.

Usually, there are one or two duck pairs that stay the winter, but much to my surprise, there was an entire flock to be photographed. We are very lucky here to have beautiful shoreline walkways throughout the city (we have the Moira River as well as the bay),and you can usually see Canada geese or mallards along the trails.

Best Wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy 2009!

Is There More Of The Bay?
by: Mark McKNight

Hope you are getting used to your new camera.

I like your photo of the ducks, but I would love to have seen more of the bay.

I think you should try taking a picture of the bay with the Mallards in the foreground of the picture and showing more of the beautiful scenery over the lake in the background.

Please add some more pictures of the bay!
