Photo tips - photographing babies
March 26, 2009

Dear Stay Focussed reader!

Welcome to the digital-photography-tips.net newsletter.

Finally we're getting used to having a two children about the place. I'm sure many of you will agree that two children are more than the sum of their parts!

Looking around here recently it seems that spring is definitely in full swing. The flowers are beginning to emerge, and the days are most noticeably longer (apologies to antipodeans – you'll be heading the other way!).

So how can we capture nature's emerging flowers? One of the best tips I can give you here is to control your aperture. Take a look at the photo below:

And some photography tips for you:

  • get down low to your subject (I lay down on the grass to take this one)
  • zoom in close, but make sure there is some background showing – this adds a sense of depth
  • Select the widest aperture possible on your camera (this is the 'f-stop' with the smallest number – read more about controlling the aperture)

I'm currently looking into a great little online 'magazine' (for want of a better phrase). It looks promising and I'll be giving it a trial.

If it's any good I'll recommend it. And if I do recommend it I'll send emails out with the word 'Extra' in the subject line.

I appreciate that we all get too many emails as it is; so, if you'd rather not receive them set up a filter to move emails with the word 'Extra' in them straight to your trash folder.

Hope this all makes sense!

Darrell.
