Dear Stay Focussed reader!

Welcome to the digital-photography-tips.net newsletter, and compliments of the season to you all!

In this newsletter:

Festive Tip

At this time of year, religious or not, there's a high chance you'll be getting together with family and friends. Naturally you'll want to take some photos of the occasion.

If you are celebrating Christmas there's likely to be lots of shiny, sparkly stuff around that could be used to set the scene. Baubles? Tinsel? Festive lights?

Try to get a couple of photos of these in to your festive picture taking to 'place' the rest of your images.

There's an example below

Baubles on a christmas tree

If you have a digital SLR, try closing the aperture to its smallest setting, set your camera on a solid surface and trip the shutter using the self timer. (Read more about the advantages of digital SLR cameras)

Close the aperture and your festive lights will turn into little starbursts! (Like the ones in the photo above)

New Year Project

As most of you will know, I thought it might be interesting for us to see the world on one day - New Year's Day.

If you can, please take a photo on New Year's Day and submit it here.

It could be a photo of your local area, your house, your living room, your family, even your lunch!

Just tell us a little about where you are, and what the photo is of. I'll upload them onto a special New Year's page for the world to see.

Christmas Gift

If you haven't already, go ahead and download the FREE digital photography tips eBook.

As you probably know I never recommend stuff just for the sake of it. Anything I do recommend I have personally used, and liked! So if you are interested in treating yourself (or maybe a keen photographer friend or relative?), have a look at these:
