Washington

by Brian Wilson
(Sparta, Illinois USA)

My family and I were on our way back from a Rocky Mountain Vacation and decided to stop and see Mt. Rushmore.

My son and I took a hike on one of the trails around the monument and found a small cave that was part of the trail. I looked up through a crack in the roof of the cave and saw this view. Took a quick shot and this is what I got. I was using an older Fuji 5100.

Although not without controversy, Mt Rushmore is one of those instantly recognisable faces of America.

Set in mostly granite hills in South Dakota the faces of the four presidents (George Washington (in Brian's photo), Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln) are around 60 ft. high.

I've never been, but I hear it can be a bit of a trek to get there.

Thanks for the submission Brian.

Darrell.
