Violinist In Training

by Jennifer OByrne
(Brooklyn Park MN)

Violinist In Training

Violinist In Training

My Daughter is learning Violin and I wanted some beautiful pictures of her and her new instrument. This photo was taken in color and converted in Photoshop to black and white.

I liked the way the movement of her hand and bow soften the right side of the photo.

This is a lovely photo, we especially like the subject matter – classical instruments that more than suit the classic look of black and white photography.

Again, it's good to see that this photo was taken in colour first, and then converted to black and white. It's the right way to get the very best black and white pictures. Click here for the reasons why.

We note that the violinist seems to be concentrating very hard. Could this be the next Vanessa Mae?

Thanks Jennifer for the submission.

Recomendation

The one thing I would suggest her holding the instrument correctly rather than posing for the photo.

Her hand isn't even on the strings as if she were photographed playing the instrument, so it looks a bit staged.

Really Rather Spectacular!

Very well taken!!

A black and white photo is always underrated until somebody actually uses it properly. I like how the picture was cropped to have the face fill the space up. Lovely touch♥.

The facial expression fits and the concentration look seems to bring out the essence of the title: Violinist in Training.

The only thing I would try to fix is the bit of motion blur on the hand. But then, what do I know? I am only 16. Maybe that in motion look is desired.

Anyway, quite nice. Bravo!☺☻

Lovely shot I especially like how the subject matter is closely cropped.

I rate this shot 4*.

I thought the shot was lovely. I especially love the sharpness of your daughters face, and the close cropping of the subject matter which to me increases the intensity of the shot.

I would liked to have seen the right side of the shot have a little more contrast to sharpen up the violin but thats just my personal view.

Very nice shot
