Pinnacle of the Temple

by Tom
(Opelika, AL)

My wife and I were touring historic churches of north Alabama recently. This 1899 synagogue belongs to Temple B'Nai Shalom in Huntsville, AL. I loved the contrasting lines and texture.

Taken with Nikon D-40. Focal length 42mm, F/16, 1/125 sec. Color. Converted from color and sharpened after the fact.

A nice photo - almost sepia in tone.

The shot here has been nicely taken to cut most of the extraneous detail from the picture, and to concentrate on the rooftops.

Selecting parts of an image in this way is always a technique worth trying in black and white.

It seems to be more appropriate to the black and white treatment than simply taking a photo of everything!

Thanks Tom for the submission,

Darrell.
