majesty

(Poland)

Hello everyone,

I took that photo a few years ago at my parents house on a sunny summer day. That dove/pigeon was a very good model!

It was taken as a color photo, transferred to B&W in iPhoto. I've done some adjustments of brightness and contrast in iPhoto as well.

I looked at it in Photoshop. Wanted to make some adjustments but decided that it doesn't need any.

It is one of my favorites from that session :-) I really like it and wonder what others think about it.

I am opened for you critique.

Ania.

Incredible shot
by: Surya

Incredible shot. I am a novice for photography, but would like to improve my skills.

Can anybody tell me, how to get that completely black background, with only the subject lighted up? Like it is in this photograph.

Surya, using the channel mixer can really bring out the inky blacks that you are talking about.

There's a tutorial here on how to get a really punchy black and white picture. It might be what you're looking for.

Darrell.
