totally agree with Ed,
after reading your desription i was expecting to see few bees not only one:)

it would be a better view with Ed's crop. but of course, it is not that easy to have always the best crop and picture in the same time.

closer would be better

The bee definitely is too small.

It seems lost in all that foliage.

I think closer would be a better photo. Maybe a different lens (telephoto) on your DSLR?

I like your photo. Nice to see it's summer somewhere in the world!

I think Ed is right about closing in on the bee.

It seems like a lot of empty space around the bee. It looks tiny in the photo.
